Trapezius

• Origin
  • Medial third of superior nuchal line of occipital bone
  • External occipital protuberance
  • Ligamentum nuchae
  • Spine of seventh cervical vertebra
  • Spinous ligaments of thoracic vertebrae
• Insertion
  • Lateral third of the clavicle
  • Acromiun process
  • Upper border and medial border of spine of scapula
• Nerve supply
  • Spinous part of accessory nerve
• Action
  • Upper fibres elevate the scapula
  • Middle fibres pull the scapula medially
  • Lower fibres pull medial border of scapula down

Biceps brachii

• Origin
  • Long head from supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
  • Short head for tip of coracoid process of scapula
• Insertion
  • Bicipital tuberosity of the radius
  • Bicipital aponeurosis
• Nerve supply
  • Musculocutaneous nerve
• Action
  • Flexion of the elbow
  • Supination of the forearm

Coracobrachialis

• Origin
  • Tip of the coracoid process
• Insertion
  • Medial side of mid shaft of the humerus
• Nerve supply
  • Musculocutaneous nerve
• Action
  • Flexion of the arm

Brachialis

• Origin
  • Front of lower half of the humerus
• Insertion
  • Anterior surface of the coronoid process of the ulna
• Nerve supply
  • Musculocutaneous nerve
• Action
  • Flexion of the elbow
