    • Posterior surface if sacrum and coccyx
    • Sacrotuberous ligament
  • Insertion
    • Iliotibial tract
    • Gluteal tuberosity of the femur
  • Nerve supply
    • Inferior gluteal nerve
  • Action
    • Extension and lateral rotation of the hip

Gluteus medius

  • Origin
    • Outer surface of ilium between posterior and middle gluteal line
  • Insertion
    • Lateral surface of greater trochanter
  • Nerve supply
    • Superior gluteal nerve
  • Action
    • Abduction of the hip

Gluteus minimus

  • Origin
    • Outer surface of ilium between middle and inferior gluteal line
  • Insertion
    • Anterior surface of the greater trochanter
  • Nerve supply
    • Superior gluteal nerve
  • Action
    • Abduction of the hip

Thigh

Sartorius

  • Origin
    • Anterior superior iliac spine
  • Insertion
    • Medial surface of shaft of tibia
  • Nerve supply
    • Femoral nerve
  • Action
    • Flexion, abduction and lateral rotation of hip
    • Flexion and medial rotation of knee
